Azithromycin

A macrolide antibiotic called azithromycin is used to treat bacterial infections like ear infections, skin infections, and respiratory infections. The process of lessening or getting rid of azithromycin's unpleasant taste—which is known to be bitter and metallic—is referred to as taste masking.

A variety of methods, such as coatings or microencapsulation, can be used to mask a substance's unpleasant flavour and increase patient compliance. Paediatric patients, who may have trouble taking medications with unpleasant tastes, should pay particular attention to this.
